Hello to all!

I have a 2006 Mustang GT with about 130k miles on her. I am looking to Install Ford Racing hot rod cams in the near future but I have spoken to a few reputable shops about the install and most have told me to replace Timing chain, rocker arms, lash adjusters etc. I got a quote from JDM engineering at 2500 installed. I refuse to pay that much.. and I want to do the work myself anyway. My most important concern is what I would need to replace in order to avoid snapping a rocker arm or screwing up my motor in general. I have seen guys on youtube just swap the cams out without the valve spring compressor tool and without positioning the crank pulley in the correct positions and their engine failed. I want to avoid that as best as possible.

Considering the parts alone cost around $1600, their quote of $900 labor, for what is a full day's work, is a pretty good deal. You'd also have the peace of mind knowing that you'd have some of the best guys in the business working on your car.
Alternatively you could save $600 (you'll need the valve spring compressor & timing chain wedge at a combined cost of ~$300) by doing it yourself but if anything goes wrong, it could cost more than the $600 that you would have saved.
You decide if a DIY job is worth the risk.
