RE: 4 cylinder to v8 Swap
how hard was it for the wireing? thats the thing that is scaring me the most, also do all your guages and electrical work etc? how hard was all that, and i have the c3 tranny i believe and want an AOD cause of overdrive (i drive to maine alot 135 miles) and i know a T-5 swap would be alot harder and i think a bit out of my legue,

Nah...the wiring may have been one of the easiest parts.
All you do is take out the wiring harness...the only semi-hard part about it is fishing the cpu out of the hole in the firewall, everything else plugs right on in.

the main reason i wouldn't use a 4 banger transmission is gearing. first is short and will cause a lot of traction problems and fifth doesn't drop your rpms as much since it's geared for a car with less than half the power and torque

but if you just want to get the car going and not beat on it too bad, a 4 banger transmission is not necessarily going to be extremely weak. on other sites i know of some people who use them just cause theyre easier to come by and for cheaper. not to mention the world class t5's up to 89 really arent much stronger, theyre rated at 265 lb/ft compared to the 4 banger's 240. a world class t5 is pretty weak even with a stock motor it'll eventually blow up depending on how bad you rag on it, so if you arent going to be powershifting and trying to kill your tranny a 4 banger t5 should hold up about as well as a world class would.

RE: 4 cylinder to v8 Swap
hey im new to this site. i just recently got a 1989 mustang 2.3 lx w/o a tranny. the owner told me it had the auto tansmission. the body is in perfect condition. on;ly one ding on the driver tood. the only thing wrong w/ the paint is that is just peeling off a lil bit in the front buit over all the car is great. but my question is that i want to convert the na 2.3 into a 5.0 i read the frist post and i got an idea on wht i would need. but is there any other things i would need since it was originally an outo trans? like im shure ill need the clutch pedal and clutch hydrualic cilinder, but wht else would be necessary. im planing to gut the whole interior and just leave the dash and gauges and only 2 racing seats. put a roll cage and fix the motor up! also iu was wondering wht year of the motor should i get. like from a 91,90,92,93 ect. and also wht year harness and computer and the year of the rear driveshaft. all the help will help alot thanks. or should i just buy a motor built from jegs or something like that? i was planning to get al the parts fomr an outo part store and the junk yard.
thanks
