Unhappy I need help with my 86 mustang

Im new here and I need some advice. I have a lil 86 mustang 2.3
I am like 90% sure i broke the Clutch Fork.
I need some advice on what a good book is to have info on how to drop the tranny and fix the clutch fork. And where i can find a clutch fork to replace this one.
I know i must sound silly, but my BF is gonna fix it he just needs a diagram of the engine and tranny... and kinda a how to to drop the tranny. Hes dropped a Kia tranny but wants to be sure he is doin it right.
Also I cant seem to find the part i need and thought maybe someone could help me or had one they were selling. Please any advice is greatly appreciated.

what are the symptoms? you more likely have a misadjusted clutch, broke one of the pieces that guide/retain the clutch cable or a bad cable itself-the clutch fork is rather hard to break.

Well i already had the cable pulled out and it was fine and put back in. I was driving it and I went to shift into first as i aproached a light. As i put it in first there was like a pop and my clutch pedal was kinda soft and easy to push. I couldnt get it back into gear. And no its not my clutch itself.
Im fairly sure that its the clutch fork, in my research ive found that its a common break in this model and since my car sat a few years before i got it it fits that things would break. So i just need help with the things I asked about please and thank you...

Hi,

Did you ever look into buying a Haynes manual or a Clintons? They have some info in there that might help you.

Im assuming you checked the clutch cable correct and tried to adjust it by lifting the clutch pedal up?

Ya i had the clutch cable out and then put back in. I originally thought it was the cable. But no such luck. And i didnt know if those manuals were good or not...
