Default First Mustang

Howdy. I'm new here and would first like to say hey to everyone. i just bought my first mustang, a 94 gt convertible. I really like the apperance of the car but not very impressed with the performance. it could use some attention in the power department. the rearend is equipped with the 2.73 gears and this can terribly been seen driving. it feels so sluggish accelerating. Lets pretend that money isn't an issue but still think in terms of "do it yourself". i'm not the most mechanically inclined person in the world but i'm interested in trying anything myself first before i jump to having someone else do it, but if having someone else do something is a must, then that's what will have to be done. but do state what all you would do in my situation.

You can fix it up real nice with a few minor mod's and some major,i would get gears first 3.73's if its a stick and 4.10's if its an auto,next tune up get new spark plugs,spark plug wires,oil ect... then go with a free flowing exhaust headers,mid pipe,catback then i would do a CAI,intake,heads,cam,throttle body,Mass air and thats just some mods theres a whole bunch more,just trying to give you an idea.

how do i tell what rear end i have? i've looked all throughout the internet and haven't found any creditible source. i know it's probably an idiot question, but i simply don't want to invest a lot of money in the wrong item. also, is gear swapping something that i can handle myself without machining or do i need to take it to a specialist?

you'll want to bring the gears to a specialist shop to do them. You will be much happier once you put some gears and full exhaust including headers/ off-road X or H pipe/ and a good exhaust like SLP, Magnaflow, Flowmaster just to name a few....

all V8 stangs have 8.8" rearend, the others got 7.5"

if u want to see what gears u have open up ur drivers door and look at the buck tag.

find the code "AX" and look under it, there should be a letter.

M = 2.73:1 w/ Traction-Lok
Z = 3.08:1 w/ Traction-Lok
E = 3.27:1 w/ Traction-Lok
R = 3.45:1 w/ Traction-Lok (GT Turbo only)
