351w stroked to 427

RE: 351w stroked to 427
You will need heads that will flow at least 280CFM at .600 lift to get the 450RWHP.
CNC'd TFS will work........
So will a solid roller with about .625 lift and about 260duration @.050.
Remember the 427 stroker thig will give a REAL long stroke, something I'm not really wild about. I also like the 393 size due to the stroke..........

RE: 351w stroked to 427
i know a lot of peeps dont like the 427 due to the poor rod/stroke ratio and piston side loading. that is why most will suggest a 408 over a 427. however, if i were to utilze a dart block w/ 4.125 bores, i can use a probe kit (which is actually a 428) that has the same r/s ratio as the 408 and a (slightly)better compression height on the piston.

bennett racing advertised a 427 using the 4.125 dart block complete engine w/ 625hp and 575tq and claimed it was fully streetable on pump gas. there was an article in anOLD issue of MM&FF (feb of '05)that tested one of their 427's. it made 635hp and 588tq on the engine dynowhich is what ive been researching to replicate. (BTW, anyone know wtf is up withbennett's website???? it's been 'under construction' for over 6 months....)
anyway, any more input on this subject would be appreciated to help guide any decision making for my project car.

RE: 351w stroked to 427
I know this thread is old, but is the stroke on a 427 that long? I mean an engine with a 4" bore and 4"stroke would be a 400 cid, and so I figure the 408 kit would bea a 4.030 bore witha 4" stroke right. So what is the stroke on the 427? I mean the stroke on the Modular 5.4, and 6.8L V10 is 4.1"s and those are pretty darn relyable.

RE: 351w stroked to 427
I think the 427 being posted about would have a 4.125 stroke. Great for low RPM use but thats an oversquare design, not the best thing for high RPM use........
It would be great in a '67 Bronco for off road racing however......
