Default Storage Ideas?

Wondering what some of you guys do who have to store their cars over the winter. We've got super cold winters and hot summers, so my car sits for about 5 months out of the year. My storage: garage/ car cover/ remove battery and charge over winter/ change oil, filter in fall/ store the car clean and I leave sheets of Bounce around and in the vehicle (mice don't go near them!) What does everybody else do? And any special preperation I need to do before I run it this spring? There seems to be a bunch of different schools here. This could be a great post for alot of people.......thanks all!

u do more than i do. i just put mine in the garage this year with the car cover never had to worry about the mice situation and then i also put that stuff (can't think of the name) in the gas tank. Then when it warms up i do the tune up that way everything is fresh in it

Aha none of those mice "tricks" work. When I got my 87, it had probably 20 bars of irish spring in it, and everybody knows those are supposed to keep the mice away, well, the mice were eating them. There were chunks of them missing everywhere. Not to mention the 5lb mound of mouse crap I found under the rear seat on the driver side, no joke, 5lbs of mouse crap. Then I had to break out the gas mask and spray 9/bleach. They made the car smell good though.

All I do is drive it in my garage, put some fuel stabalizer in it, slam a couple bags of sarin around the car (works awesome, and it makes the mouse not stink when decaying and decays completely) and let'er be. Every 2 1/2 - 3 months I'll go start it and let it run for half an hour to keep the seals from drying out and leave it be. No car cover no nothin, I don't like car covers. Then come spring if ill check the fluids, if they're good and don't need to be changed, that's it.

The 2 cats have already caught 2 in the garage.....thank god there's none in the friggen house![:'(] We live close to a river and forest. The bounce sheet trick came from a local old time car collector, urban legend? Who knows but it can't hurt, makes the car smell nice too! The oil is fresh in the car now, some guys say to change it again before I start it up, I think this is a waste. And the fuel stabilizer..........never done it I haven't heard alot of good about it. Down with the mice!

When I lived up north (not as far as Canada) we put Heat (brand name) in the tank with every fill. I was supposed to help eliminate condensation in the fuel. I guess it worked cuz I never had that kind of problem... I think if the car sat over the winter I would want to run a can of that just in case...

Yeah oil doesn't get bad over the winter.

All I do is park it in the garage and slap a cover over it. I hardly start it ever wen it sits. My garage was just built this fall and didn't have problems with mice, nor have I ever...
