Default my 2nd gear problem

this was one of the problems i listed in a long, strung-out post i made the other day after first purchasing this '92 lx (about 2nd gear). basically it's not really grinding... but rather not engaging properly. for instance, i go to shift from 3rd to 2nd and the shifter LOOKS/FEELS like it's in 2nd gear.. but then i go to accelerate and it just revs up like it's in neutral. so i then have to slam the clutch pedal once more and jam the shifter into 2nd gear position and THEN it engages (usually). but i think that's why it was grinding.. because i wasn't doing that before and it wasn't engaged all the way. anyone know what could be causing this problem?

if it is, your stop bolts might need to be backed out. if they are screwed in too much, they keep you from going all the way into gear.
