5.0 swap
Hi,
My daughter had wrecked her 88 5.0 gt in january,it is not fixable, and we can't afford to go buy another gt.So I found an 89 4cl lx with a blown headgasket for $200.The lx is a 4 cyl,so I have to swap engine, trans, rearend, pedal assy.My question is to those of you that have done this swap before.I started stripping the gt,got the exhaust, driveshaft, and trans out.I was looking at the wiring harness. It is different between the 2 cars obviously. The engine harness and the chassis harness, even the dash wiring harness all run together.Did you take the dash out and remove the entire wiring harness and swap it over,or is there some wires I can get away without swapping?
thanks,
jim

RE: 5.0 swap
to be honest, there are a few things you may be able to leave as they are now, but there are so few of those things that it would still be easier to yank the entire dash, and do the entire wiring harness front to back. The key is this... you need to get a Chilton's and pay attention during the disassembly from the 5.0 car... If you take notes along the way, putting it all back together is as simple as following your own instructions.... You can even use masking tape and a sharpie to remind your self of what connector goes where... sorry man, buyt Bite the Bullet and do it al at once.
strip the new interior to the metal, and put it back together piece by piece
