Is Kick Starting your car Bad?
I was drinvin down the road last night and the starter solieniod went out. But before I knew that I tried kick starting my 5.0 like 5 times. So then the next mourning I installed a new starter + solieniod and when it started I sounds bad! Sounds like maybe a push rod is f_ucked or the timing chain has skipped. Can kick starting cause this?

assuming you mean push starting, right? and no it's not hard on the motor, exhaust is the only thing it's hard on. Just think of it like this: Your engine is drawing out 300ft lbs of torque and 225hp at peak, and can handle much more... when you're push starting it you're putting what? 1 hp of stress on the engine?

umm... ya kick starting is what you do on a motorycle. And as Liquid said its not gonna do that to your engine. I had a bad batt. on my old car and push started it evyday while i was in highschool for about 2 weeks. It never had any probs after i switched the batt. out.

??? That makes sense but it was running fine, then it died, put new starter in, now its sounds plugged up and makes a clinking sound which sounds like its coming from the heads or the block. And also, I dont know whats been done to this car in the past but I went to get that new starter and it wasnt the right one they tried to give me. I had to look thru a bunch of boxs to find the right starter. The only main difference between the two was my starters gear is offset towards the ground like I got a bigger flywheel than the stock!
