Default EGR valve

Can you take the EGR valve off the spacer and plug the hole up without it messing up the idle? I know I would have to buy an EGR eliminator sender, but would the car still function with the valve removed?

I eliminated mine, didn't buy a sim. I just took the old sensor off the valve and siliconed the plunger half way in and pluged it back in. Works good, perfect idle. Try that first, if it doesn't work, then buy a sim....its free!
