Default Proper flexplate and tranny for my motor

I am switching tranny in my car and need to go from a 157 tooth flexplate to a 164 tooth flexplate. The motor is a 302 out of an 1971 Torino. I was told to find out how these motors were balanced and such before i baught anything. Is the flexplate for those years a standard thing or maybe the tranny isnt even going to work. I am going from a case fill C4 to a pan fill C4. I was told the bellhousings are a different size and they took different sized flexplates. Will the pan fill even fit on my 302 motor I have I have?
