I was recently offered a 8/81 mustang Gt. The car is already here in aus, in same condition it arrived here 4 yrs ago.

The car is a 302, 5 speed that needs work, has some minor front end panel damage (bonnet & front bar req replacing)

As I'm in aus, sourcing parts may be an issue, but I'm seriously considering buying car as a project (at the price I really can't complain)

What I'd like to know is

1. Parts interchange - from what I've been able to work out the basic fox body has been the same from 79-93ish. This being the case how difficult is it to swap panels etc from say a 87 model onto the 82 body?

2. Dash Conversion - Which model dash appears to be the most "modular" (ie easiest to cut to bits & reverse from one side of car to the other) As I'll need to destroy dash & build new looming anyway, are senders etc compatible across year models/dashs etc??

3. Options codes - Is there a website around that anyone knows of where I can check to see what bits the car originally came out with (I'm fairly sure that the 82 never came with a T5 trans.)

4. Any other relevant info that you guys/gals may think relevant (maybe someone else who's attempted this sort of thing before could point out some of their problems/experiences etc.)



What I was considering is fitting later model panels(late 80's) & a bodykit.....

The front qt pannels will interchange. Unbolt old and rebolt new.
