maf / 84 carb / speed density
hey guys quick question, do all the main wiring harness's from 84-93 all fit the same on each car? and since im converting my 84 over to efi, do you all think i should go maf or speed density? im rdy to start buying the parts to switch it over so i just need to get an idea on what the best year harness would be to get to best match my car, and i like the idea of maf if u think itll be ok as long as i get a maf ecu... also if i get say a 88 maf main wiring harness, do i need a 88ecu or will any maf ecu work?

if you are doing this to save gas just stop and think for a second...you are going to spend a **** load converting your car over than you would in saving gas. you can tune a carb to run better than efi anyway and i think IMO that carbs will put out more power than efi will. leave it carb its so much easier to work with

RE: maf / 84 carb / speed density
Here is my take on it. If you get a complete harness from 89-93, your connections at the firewall on the driver's side will not merry up. I know because when I swapped over my 86 to MAF I had the complete harness out of a 90 gt. I'm sure that you could cut and splice and make it work. If your fundage can handle it, I would get an EFI harness from an 86. A mass air harness and computer from 89 on and convert it. This stuff can be found reasonably priced if you look around. I picked up my computer, harness, and meter for $50.

well im trading parts with him^ so were just paying eachothers shipping so thats id uno 100$ ecu, harness, fuel injectors, fuel rails, l8r distrubuter, etc 300ish all together so its not gonna be that expensive at all.. and im not doin it to save gas i have a daily driver for that reason im doin it because i dont kno how to work on carbs worth a **** also i wanna go witha power adder and i dont like the thought of having to spend 700 just for a hat to sit on my carb for my intake pipes to run into... and id have to set up some sort of blow through carb and all that... goin efi to me will be much easier in my mind

I can understand that. What year is his? Like I said if it is 87 or later you'll have to do a little splicing. I don't see it being a problem if you have an accurate wiring diagram from both years.

so do you think the 86 main wiring harness should plug into the dash correctly with no problem?
then i can just get a 89+ ecu , get the mas conversion kit they sell and just do that what do you think?
