Just don't hit the face
Okay, I know you hate this old question coming up again, But I really have searched all the old posts and I couldn't find the answer for my proposed combination, so please bear with me. I am going to do the 5-lug conversion on my 91 LX 5.0 vert and I want to go with American Racing Torgue Thrust IIs. I propose 16x7s wrapped in a BFG G-force KDW 205/55-R16 for the front and 16x8s wrapped in BFG G-force 245/50-R16 for the rear. I can remove the quads, I have Steeda adj control arms and a Wild Rides anti-roll bar (along w/ their Battle Boxes and full length subframe connectors). Can anyone help me with what the backspace should be to make this work? Can I fit a wider wheel tire combo? I don't want to go larger than 16 inch wheels, and the real quality tires seem to be limited in size for the 16, preferring the 17 thru 20s. I would change the tire brand if I could fit a bigger tire under there. Thanks for any input you might have.

part#505-6765
size 16x7
offset 0
backspace 4
lug pattern 5-4 1/2
That should be cool....the fox body will take up to 10" wide in rear with an overall tire diameter of 26". youll have to do the math for the tire size in P-metric. the other thing is AMR has a few different series of the torq-thrust wheel. the spec i gave you is for the 505series. There are too many options of combination of what will work. if you still have any Q's call AMR and talk to a tech. lastly try for an 8" wide rim(16x8). AMR makes it in the wheel you want. This size will get you to the widest tire possible that will fit the fox. 16" is a tough tire to find but they are out there. I recomend a 15" or a 17". The 15" will give you more sidewall in the tire for more traction on a launch, 17" will get you a shorter (lower profile) sidewall better for cornering. Good luck.. Hope this helps a bit.

a 275 will fit in the back on standard backspace rim w/ quads removed
you will need a 9" rim for tire that wide though.
making the right tire fit with a 16" wheel will take the right
sidewall height.
I'm thinking a 275/50 R 16 should fit in the back ok and look right.
Also, good tire shops have jig/tools they can mount a tire on and then mount to the hub
and tells them exactly what the back space should be and how the tire will fit
Call around see who has one, no guessing or frustrated return/exchanges to make
Found good artcl on do it your self wheel fitment

Found the tool, $350, could always re-sell on ebay after done

RE: Just don't hit the face
Thanks for the info turt & r.barn. Turt, the stats look good, if I understand you right the 16x7 you list should fit the front just fine? Any idea what the backspacing on a 16x8 would need to be? I have found some good performance tires in the R16, I am limited in that I don't want to put Japanese tires on my car, just a personal choice. the BFG G-force 245/50-R16 comes in at 25.70 so it sounds like it should work just fine if I can nail down the right backspacing on a 16x8. I looked at AMR contact but it seems that you can only email them (which I did), no phone tech, unless I am missing something...anyone know?
