Throttle Stuck
When i replaced my old carb, I bought a new holly 600 and set the idle and floats. It ran and idle'd fine. A few days ago for some odd reason, I started it up(cold) and it didnt idle right, Sounded like it was at 2000 and not going down. I poped the hood and checked everything and played with it and it did nothing, the throttle was sticking. I jumped in the car and tryed pulling the pedel back with my foot but it didnt do anything. I didnt change anything from when everything ran fine with the new carb till now, so how can this all of a sudden happen and how can I fix it?
ummm,,, could be the cable sticking. right where the cable comes out of the sheeth in the motor compartment(where the bracket is) you can check for kinks or rust. spray WD40 into it and slide it in and out of sheeth to lube it up. this worksBEST if you disconnect it from carb AND from the bracket. if thats all cool then you adjusted the idle when the choke was off or on. make sure your idle adjustment is done on a fully warm motor. each time you start your car COLD you need to press accelerator pedal fully to set choke then start car. as car warms up press pedal again to release choke. was the carb new? normally floats and idle are adjusted close to what they are supposed to be from factory. but some tuning of idle screw and idle mix screws is normal, but floats are usually cool. lastly you may have developed an air leak. test with brake cleaner, NOT CARB CLEANER. i doubt thats ur prob though.
