Clutch chatter. Is there a such thing?

Clutch chatter. Is there a such thing?
I started my 93 stang this morning. It was quit outside and I heard it every once in a while, while I had my hand on the stick some "chatter" or "ratteling". It did not last but more than 1-2 seconds every once in a while but I heard it. I crawled under the car like maybe the exhaust was vibrating against the underbody. But I figured out when I step on the clutch it does not happen. I just purchased the car and I know the previous person changed the clutch because it is extremely hard to step on. I get leg cramps. Nothing compared to my stock 93 Cobra, she's like butter. Is it possible to have some clutch chatter?

It is possible, pucked clutches do it ALL the time... it really depends on what kind of clutch is in your car... most of the time a OEM style clutch will only chatter when its on its way out

Well I think it has to be High Performance. He changed the gears and I guess a clutch because the clutch pedal is extremely hard to depress.

there is such a thing as clutch chatter, its usually when the clutch is messed up or high performance...

The pedal being hard to push has nothing to do with the age of the clutch... You might want to invest in an adjustable clutch quadrant and a new cable...

Can you explain an adjustable clutch quadrant and what it does. And if I replace this and a cable would that make the clutch softer. Why do people always say when you get a performance clutch the pedal is always harder? Thanks for any info?
