Default another 5.0 head question

okay, so I'm not toally ready to buy heads yet, but I want to know what I'm really looking for.

I thought I was for surely getting some afr's but...

what about the gt-40 heads? I really dont' know much about them? can you port them, and can they flow like some out of the box afr's?

or other heads? If ported, can they flow well? What about porting afr's?

Just getting a feel for what to expect as well as some info...thanks

gt40's are the bottom of the barrel "aftermerket" head, will not even come close to standing up to an AFR or TFS wedge head. Ask a specific question or I could ramble on for weeks.

no they wont all flow the same, first off what are you planning to do with the motor, is it a typical low lift small duration cam motor? If so pay clser attention to the low lift and mid lift numbers the 300-400 lift numbers. For me I need to concentrate on the 600-700 inch lift numbers cause I run big lift cams with a ton of duration on 500+ inch motors. The TFS and AFR will be a better head than edelbrock for sure, IF done by a competent porter.

nice chart to compare head flow numbers

you'll notice the TW's have awseome low lift flow, but cant match the overall flow of the 185's

Well, it has a crane cams that is similar to the "E". I was going to get 1.7 rr to get into the .500 lift.
