Just curious but what is involved in an engine swap replacing the stock 302 with 331(5.4L right?)? Fuel injected, and would a KB Blowzilla for the 302 fit on it? What would it cost for the 331 crate engine?
Well, you could strip down your motor yourself and buy a 331 stroker kit from somewhere and have the block work done, installed, etc. I would honestly just find it alot easier to buy a shortblock/longblock/crate engine from someone and call it a day (yes, its a 5.4).

And yes a KB blowzilla would fit onto a 302, 331, 347; its all the same block. But for some reason I believe the only lower manifold you can use with a KB is GT-40??? (someone correct me on this if I am wrong).

I could not give you a prince on a crate motor; there are just way to many different factors. Heads/Intake/Pan/Ignition/Internals/Forged/BlaBlaBla... A couple good companies to check out are DSS/Coast High Performance (CHP)/ Ford Performance Solutions (FPS)/Keith Craft/etc. Go on any one of their websites and they should have cratemotors for sale. And 99.9 percent of any of these companies will built you a custom motor if you dont like what their crate motors consist of... just remember that.

thats what i meant, i meant a crate motor. either already built or just the shortblock and i'll get some AFR 165 or 185 to put on it.

I found something i like http://www.coasthigh.com/Assemblies/Ford/ford_331.htm which is the 331 street fighter pro shortblock. What i want to know is what is the difference b/w shortblock and a longblock? and if i get a shortblock(i think its just the engine block with pistons etc... what would i need to buy serpeartly, i know i will need heads, Intake manifold. What about a oil pan anything else? and what level difficulty would you rate putting a 331 in?

So does this require heads and intake for the 351. are the heards/intake smaller on the 302?
The heads would work but the lower intake would have to be swapped out.

so does the 351 have its own version of the gt40?

Well I have a 351 in my possession as we speak, as to what type it is i am not sure, I have an old beat up 1995 F-250 with a 351 in it sitting in my drive way collecting dust. The motor has 235k on it as it sits but runs like a champ. Anyone familiar with the 95 F-250 and that model of the 351 I'd like to get your input.
