Backfiring

RE: Backfiring
Not the headers. Im talking about engine parts ( pistons, rings, etc.)that is if you need to do any of these in the future. Hopefuly not soon. As far as your headers and exhaust parts, make sure the bolts are tight and retighten them after couple of hundred miles. Header bolts tend to give a little as header gaskets settle in.. Make sure you DON'T OVERTIGHTEN them because you might strip the tread on the heads and then a big problem and more work.

RE: Backfiring
yeah OB, look for him and then blow his doors off! LMFAO
just make sure you have a radiator overflow bottle and that your battery is bolted in securely so you can pass tech at the track, and take the spare tire and jack out of it when you get there to save some weight too. and take a tire pressure gauge and let some air out of your rear tires down to about 22-24 psi for better traction off the line and add air to the front tires up to 35 psi for less rolling resistance. every little bit helps you know. just remember to air the tires back up before you drive all the way home with low pressures.
don't think you'll need a helmet yet, but you will if you run below 14 secs, so if you got one, take it with you just in case. keep us posted on the results, this should be interesting!

hehehe
yea im gonna **** up off the line. not gonna know what to do.
i think ur sposta burn out if you want to then drive to this line
and just go when the tree light turns green
as for a spare, i dont have one. nor a jack
ill try the tire pressure thing tho

Good luck! Dont hit the water on the track if you don't have slicks. that will make your tires wet and you will end up burning out off the line. Just go around the water and then burn out on the dry track. try not to burn out off the line as it will slow you down. it make take you a couple of runs to get a handle but you will enjoy yourself. just give your car time to cool between runs

RE: Backfiring
WesDe is right, you can drive around the water if you don't want to do a burnout, but do get in front of the water and spin the tires good to throw off any rocks and dirt from the pit roads. also don't wait for the green light, drop the hammer when you see the last yellow light come one and you'll do better. if you wait to see the green, you're late!
actually, don't worry about the reaction times, just concentrate on staging the car correctly and not missing any gear shifts! slowly drive up until the top yellow light comes on then stop. very slowly ease up the 7 inches until the second yellow comes on and then stop right there and you're properly staged. some tracks use the courtesy rule, which means you should not light the bottom yellow until your opponent in the other lane has lit his top light, but this varies from track to track. ask the guy at the head of the staging lanes about this so you'll know before you go to the line. most trees also have a time out function built in too, this means that once one racer has lit both his bulbs, the other guy has 15 seconds to light both his or the tree will go off and give the late guy a red light. again, ask a tech official about this so you'll know this too. you can pour some water over the radiator to cool off between runs, but don't pull up into the lanes dripping a bunch of water or they'll send you back to the pits. remember to try to have some fun too!
