fuel gauge problems

fuel gauge problems
i have a 92 mustang thats fuel gauge is stuck at the top im assuming that the floater is stuck at the top recently the fuel pump went out and a friend and i replaced it but its still stuck i want to get it fixed every time i go to the gas station ive got to fill up and run off the trip odometer (sux and ive run out of gas a few times)

it wont go past 1/4 tank
i just figured that i will ALWAYS get xxx amount of miles
and i fill up when i am near that number

same problem here with the gauge...
i say its the sending unit high resistance makes it go off the chart i have to change it but i will do it while the pump is going to be changed...
Metal tank+ Water= Rust
