Default E-BRAKE LIGHT WONT GO OFF....HELP

I have not heard of any others cases like this, but when i take my E-brake off the light under the gage cluster stays on, I am positive that the E-brake is off because the car will start rolling when disengaged and there does not seem to be any drag while moving in neutral, if anyone cane help or maybe has the same problem let me know.... 95' 5.0

Either the master cylinder is low or there is a short in the switch/harness.

Mine kinda did that a while back. it wouldn't stay on all the time but would come on every once in a while and it bugged the hell out of me. I did a brake job and it went away, so make sure that you have good brakes....just my sugestion for a direction to go..

The reason it "went away" is b/c when you colapsed the caliper pistons, it pushed the fluit back into the master cylinder hence filling it and turning off the light.

yea, I figured it was somethin like that. anyway, a bit off topic, would there be any ill effects of mixing DOT 3 and DOT 5 brake fluid? I was told that my brakes had been filled with DOT 5 but I'm not sure if they actually are. so would I cause a problem by pouring in DOT 5 if it's actually DOT 3 and vice versa

Read the dot 5 article. Say it doesn't mix.

my pads are not totally gone but they are beginning to become on the worn side so that might be it, and i will also check the master cylinder fluid level because that seems like it could cause the whole problem right there, new pads sound like a good idea though, i know this depends on how much the car is on the road but how often would you say you replace your pads....
