Checking codes
Alright, so i read on how to check codes and tried it on my car. Its been having some random idle problems. It idles high for a few seconds then drops. Idle= 800 jumps to 1800...
Anyways, i set the rig up and hooked it to my battery. When i go back into my car to check the CEL it blinks, and i got code 12.... then i hear a popping sound from under my dash board and it stops.
From what i read its suposed to flash the codes 2x I only got it once.
So, i tried the setup again... and now the CEL dosent blink at all! Did i fu*k something up?

RE: Checking codes
'96 and up have an OBDII connector under the dash that allows you (the user) to purchase a OBDII reader ( around $100 from Checker/Autozone/PepBoys) and pull/erase simple codes from the CPU/ECM/Etc...
They are worth the $$$!,

RE: Checking codes
'85 - '95 are EEC-IV....you can read codes and perform the KOEO/KOER/Cyl. Balance self-tests following the procedure at http://www.my5oh.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=190
You can get the '96+ OBD-II (or EEC-IV) scanners (low cost) at any of the big chain auto parts stores.
