no more o2 sensor?

no more o2 sensor?
so if I get a set of headers and go down to a muffler shop and let them do the rest of the system with no cats, what am I losing by not having an o2 sensor anymore?
is it possible that clogged cats or something in the exhaust could cause the popping sound I'm hearing as the engine decelerates after revving it? I can hold it clean at 2k and no popping, but when I let off, you can hear the popping. it idles smooth and I have no exhaust at all after the cats.

RE: no more o2 sensor?
Your car is not going to run right w/o the o2's. The computor needs them to read for the propper fuel mixture. As far as the popping goes, that's just somethin' you'll have to get used to. Depending on how free flowing your exhaust is will determine the amount of popping it does. Mine was not that bad when I had the Mac catback on it but now w/ the SLP system, it's alot worse.

RE: no more o2 sensor?
Have you guys tried backing off the timing?
Running without O2's is far from ideal, but it has been done. It forces the computer to run in open loop, which is basically wot. Fuel mixture control will be far from ideal for street driving, and your MPG could take a major hit.
I would not even consider removing the O2's. Any decent shop should be able to install them for a minimal charge, especially if they are already doing the rest of the exhaust for you.

RE: no more o2 sensor?
w/o your o2 sensors your car will run extremly rich in open loop like he said, open loop is what your car is in when your first crank it up before its at operating temp because a cold motor requires more fuel to stay running, besides it doesnt like to stay running till it gets to operating temp. my home made 02 extensions for my LT's got destroyed when my tranny went so im running w/o them its not fun.
