lockup vs. non-lockup converters
I've been reading on this topic lately but opinions are split half and half on lockup or non lockup converters. when i get around to working on my car, the AOD will be my top priority after i build the rearend and chances are i'll be buy a lentech street bruiser or terminator. however those transmissions can only be used with a non lockup converter. what's your opinion and what would you do?

RE: lockup vs. non-lockup converters
A lock up converter will lock up causing it not to slip after you get over 60 or 65 mph (I'm pretty sure) preventing over heating your trans. when you're just cruising around. I'm not sure how to explain it.

They will lock up even sooner than that. I reccomend getting a lock up and going with more stall than you think you need. With a lock up over heating is a lot less of a worry and once it locks up it will behave like a stocker.

I think that it's mostly aimed for a street driven car. Don't get an off the shelf converter either, get it custom built to your specifications.

I plan on going with a custom built edge converter here within the next week, they're $495.00 plus shipping. I'm hoping to hit mid to low 13's with some slicks and a converter and I think that I'll get what I'm expecting.
