Default RE: Need help with jerking

I also have the jerking that you are experiencing as well. This is what I think is my problem, and might be your problem as well, since you did say you replaced the distributor. Cause everything was fine until that got replaced right? Try this:

ROTOR REGISTRY (cross fire due to rotor position )

When you take out the distributor, be sure to put it back in place correctly. I can be timed (10 to 18 deg BTDC) with the clocking 1 tooth out of time. This doesn’t show up until you’re about 2500 RPM at light throttle load. The car bucks, runs rich, and occasionally backfires. What’s actually happening is the rotor is pointing at the wrong spark plug wire and the spark is going to the plug that is in the intake stroke.

Rx; reposition the distributor 1 tooth counterclockwise and reset the timing. Your drive problems should go away.

To check rotor registry, set the front engine shive on 30 deg. BTDC. Note the location of the rotor with either cyl 1 or 6.

Open the top of the distributor the spark button should be in the middle third of the rotor metal.
