Default Gear question

OK.....i bought my car from a guy that said they had 3.73's in it and gave me the package with the original gears in it. My friends car (1992) seems to rev longer in each gear and he does not have gears in his car. I thought that gears were suposed to make the car rev longer in the gears. Am i wrong? Also, my car seems to run alot hotter than his. My mods are listed below and his car only has a CAI. His car's temp is between the lower 1/4 to 1/2 marks and mine is in the top 1/4. i was wondering why this could be. thanks for any help.

Yeah it won't make you rev longer or anything just quicker like NOS/MAN said. Connecting rods will make you have a higher rev depending if you have a rev limiter or not. I dont know on the 93 model. But the higher heating problem could be in the radiator when was the last time you drained it? Maybe its time to get it flushed. Good luck with the car and go race your friend to see the difference in the gears and over all mods. C yeah

Thanks for letting me know that the gears make it rev shorter.....i will flush the radiator and see what happens. It is the factory gauge but u can feel the heat to the sides of the shifter. mines is much hotter than his is. thanks

some one might have tooking the inslulation out of the shifter area when they installed the shifter...sometimes it can get in the way...and make you miss a gear..

I'd go by the stock gauges over feeling heat from the shifter. Also what kinda hobby car is that in your sig white?

What headers do you have on your engine?
Long Tubes?

If so that could be why...
Get some of that wrap stuff for them, I hear it helps a lot...
