Don't believe the hype. Cobras were underated and had a different computer that was not as mod friendly as the A9P and A9L. 3 bars and 4 bars flow much better than E7's and will give you at least 25 rwhp over stockers.

fully ported stock e7's floaw almast aswell as stock gt40's. ported gt40's can flow as well as the street trickflow heads. a higher flow head like the afr 185 or stick flow track will outflow them stock. more people dont port there stock heads because those heads came on cobras and it cost just as much to have them rebuilt and ported as a new set of 185's do. its not worth putting money into.

1993 ford rated the 5.0 at 205hp, the cobra was rated at 230, its 25 more stock.

yea, ported E7's arnt to bad, i mean they're much better than the old E6's...

Ported E7's with stock valves usually flow around 199-210@ .600 and about 140-150 @ .600 on the exhaust side, so that aint to bad.

Stock GT-40's are like 195ish intake @ .600 and 150ish @ .600 exhaust.


And personally, i could loose 30 lbs for free, Aluminum heads dont really make that much of weight savings compared to their prices. And for a 400-450hp street machine, ported GT-40's are fine.

I was just curious myself because I wanted to buy the ones from jegs, but I dont know if I see the benefits...

MM&FF showed 265 fw hp on a stock 93 cobra. All the improvements they made wouldn't just be a few HP difference..... Ask guys on here running the GT40's how much better they are....how much more proof do you need?

Yup, Ported GT-40's with decent valves are about as good as any run of the mill aluminum head, except for wieght. I mean heavy weights like Vic. Jrs. or something like that are gonna blow em away, but GT-40's are all you should need on a good street engine.

i know this but in 1993 ford droped the power rating to 205 for a more honest number. thats why i said it was 205, and it is infact 25 hp more. they 205hp and 225hp engine were the same.
