gauge lighting
i have a autometer water temp gauge and i have it hooked up without the lights....... i need it to light up at night so i can see it.... i dont have a chilton manual and dont wanna buy one just yet so dont tell me to just look it up..... i just need to know which wires i splice into to make the gauge light up and which wire is the ground.... is the black or white the ground?? im guessin its the black but it doesnt say in the instructions and i wanna make sure..... also, i want the gauge to only be lit up when the key is turned..... so what exact wire do i splice into???

RE: gauge lighting
the white is hot and the black is ground. But splice the white wire into any wire thats coming off of your dimmer switch. You you can find the dimmer switch fuse and plug the wire into the positive side of the fuse and then put the fuse in ontop of it.
But it can be wired into any light source that comes on with the dash backlighting.
