Default O/D off

Can anybody tell me if it is a bad idea to drive around town with the O/D off? I wouldn't ever be going over 45-50 MPH ... it seems my car wants to take it into OD too much, or too soon... My RPMs are reading around 2000 ....
Thanks.

yea you dont HAVE to use od at all. Of course its gonna put less wear on the car if you use it on the freeway cause of the lower rpms, but around town its fine not to because these things are known to go out so the less you are shifting in and out of OD the better.
