Default gear choice.

hello guys i needs some advice. im running a small block stroker motor and it is a strickly strip car. with a 5 speed tranny. i want to upgrade my gears in the rear end...i currently have 373 in her now. i was thinking about changing to 456....i want to be able to run the quater and have a solid strong gear. what do you guys recommend...thanks for any advice.

depending on what your max rpms are in that car, a 4.56 might hurt your mph in the 1/4, not to mention you might have to go to 5th and most of the time you dont want to have to shift to 5th in a 5 speed, at least thats the way i look at it, you want something your going to cross the line in 4th at about 5,700-6,000rpm.

stangaruu is right, I am fine with my 373 but if you wanna go up, id suggest no more than 410. Like he said, you want your rpm to be right near the redline in 4th when you go thru the trap.

My 3.73's and detroit locker basically pick me up and throw me out of the whole with my suspension set up. I love em.

im putting a little over 450 to the pavement...so do you thing 373 and a good rear suspension can sling me out of the hole..thanks again.
