Default O2 sensor question

Is it possible to run widebands with the '91 stock computer and is there any benefit to it? Just not sure what you can do with the stock computer...Can you buy a piggyback chip burned to take advantae of the widebands. I know Tweecer and PMS will but are there other less expensive ways to exploit the widebands and the computer...I am preparing for EMISSION ISSUES.

I believe there are some wb kits that can hook into the computer, but the same resolution issues would probably still exist.

The aftermarket tuners can record/monitor a wb O2, but the car does not run on the wideband. The wb O2 is a third sensor that is added to the existing 2 factory O2's.

Swapping to a wb will not help your emissions output in anyway. If you re-tune the car with a wb however, you could see some improvements.
Either way you will want to start out by making sure the stock emissions components are in good shape.
Have you pulled the diagnostic codes?

No codes to worry about yet…

Hmmm…seems as if I may have been mis-directed.

I was under the impression that with the help of the wb o2 and a piggyback custom chip I could tune the A/F mixture to compensate for a more aggressive cam.

Maybe its time to re-evaluate.

I have a DSS 331 with a stage 2 ported top end TFS kit from Foxlake with a TFS stage 1 cam.

I know I am giving up a lot of power but I have to remain EMISSIONS legal. I was hoping that a custom chip would help…maybe its time for a custom cam. I dunno…Thanks for the feedback.

Do you think the PMS would let me run a more aggressive cam and still be legal?

Yeah…I know…it can’t hurt…LOL
