How do those show codes if they dont have a screen?
I remember using a paper clip to jump terminals on the data link plug on my '93 S10 and the CEL would flash a certain amount of times and you could look up the code in a Haynes manual to see what it was.
Can you just do that on Fords too?

You count flashes. The flash count translates to the codes. There were very few OBDI readers with screens (they were very expensive).
