I want to make 400hp at the crank and keep it cheap and simple

I'll upgrade the cam someday when I'm bored or get an s/c

Yes maybe I could get another 20-25hp out of a better cam
but the B is cheap and easy, will have decent lift with 1.72 rockers
and is fine for now.

Remember MyShifter? the engine builder who actually knew what he was talking about?
He said ***** it, not best, but not bad "Have fun and forget the nay sayers, you'll be fine with that cam"

You asked, so you got answers.

If you don't care about making the most of the combo right now, then look into what cam will work best with the s/c. You may as well plan ahead if your going to sacrifice power now.

just my thoughts
Good luck and let us know how it goes,

just letting you know... A close friend of mine is runnign B cam on x-303 heads and his combo makes crap power. you would be better off with a TFS stage 1 cam with its longer exhaust duration.... single pattern cams are out... get an up-to-date cam, youll be sorry you went with a b cam
Actually, the B cam and F cam both have more duration that the Stage 1. Yes there is newer tech out, but it doesn't mean that that's what he wants or even needs. I've always wanted to try the Stage 1, but I got a good deal on my E cam and 1.72's....

I'm not siding or knocking anyone...just pointing out that he didn't ask which cam he should use.

r.barn, if it'll make the power you want, then go for it.

ok,

upgraded this morning to TFS stage 1 cam
will give me .536/.548 lift with 221/224 duration at .05 with my 1.7 rockers
this is max that my valve springs can handle anyway.

hope she makes 325rwhp[sm=violent053.gif]
