Okay that could be another thing to check, and where exactly is this switch? As I said I don't know much about electrical systems. [sm=smiley9.gif]

yea my 86 GT had a problem like that too. after changing all the relays and junk, it end up being the switch, replaced that and now its fine. just make sure you get the switch with the plug for the fog lights, the guys at ford gave me the wrong one at first so i was without lights for a night

SO it would probably only be the one for the fog lights, not the one for the headlights. So I just pull on that tab and it will come out?? Easy enough ![sm=smiley16.gif] What should I be looking for ... a broken wire or exposed wire ??

RE: Electrical problem?? Healight Problem ??
Usually if you unplug your switch you can see the switch and or the wiring burnt this happened to me on my 87 lx with out fog lights when i went to unplug the headlight switch the plug for the wires broke apart in my hand i ended up going to a junk yard and cutting a plug off a car there and and carefully changing the wires one at a time to the good plug then i bought a new headlight switch from bumper to bumper it was a standard motor products switch pt# ds-340 a headlight switch with fog lights when i pulled it out of the bosx it had ford stamped on the side and was about half the price of the ford one. Well good luck.

I install at Circuit City and I would say check the swtich first for any scorch marks, bare wire, or anything melted and if there is nothing like that then follow those directions on that web site they seem to be pretty good.

RE: Electrical problem?? Healight Problem ??
You guys are all missing the point. There is a reason for the scorched wires you are all referring to and that's overheating of the wires caused by excessive current draw that the wiring was not intended to handle. Properly wired circuits will not overheat and scorch the wires to begin with. Changing the switch may fix the problem temporarily, but it will return as soon as the wires in the new switch begin to overheat. The overload condition needs to be removed from the circuit. Oh, by the way, I'm an electrical engineer and I've been working with electrical and electronic circuits for 20 years.

ALright, I didn't get a chance to do much this week-end on my car but I will try this week-end.... I will follow the instructions that rstang91gt gave me and get it over with, that way I'll be sure that it won't come back. Thanks all you guys for your input!! I'll let you guys know how it goes. Damn electricity.... scares the **** out of me !! [sm=smiley13.gif]
