Default Exhaust question???

I went today and had new Flowmaster mufflers put on my Mustang and I'm quite dissappointed on how it ended up sounding. It's so quiet now. It's almost as quiet as my old Nissan Maxima. I know these cars have 4 catalytic converters. My question is, if I were to cut the last two off would it make any difference in the sound and would it hinder the performance of the car? Also, would it make the check engine light come on? I've heard some badass sounding Mustangs before and it seems like I can never get my to sound good. [:@]

Get an off road Hpipe. That will give you the sound you are looking for and is just about as cheap as paying someone to cut two cats off and weld a piece in. What kind of Flowmasters did you get, two or three chamber?

I wanna say they're two chambers, I know they're 40 series. Will most exhaust shops have an off road hpipe?

most shops wont do an off-road mid pipe because they are not legal.. if they do you will most likely have to trailer the car in.. sign some waiver or something.. and trailer the car out. it will make the car much louder though... and i vote for an x-pipe if you get a new mid pipe.

when i put flows on my t-bird with a 5.0ho in it.. it was quiet when i first got it on.. but then it slowly got louder.. so i dont know if there is any sort of break in period on flows but give it a couple of weeks and see if it gets any louder... that was 3 chamber ones though.. 2 chambers should be much louder right away.

hey.. look under the car and see if they are even flows.. and if thery are.. see if they put them on backwards. hope any of this helps.

If they're the Delta Flow series Flows, they may be a bit quieter. But as these guys have said, an off-road pipe will help the performance and the sound will get a lot deeper. I suggest an off-road Prochamber

For the mufflers, I would also recommend Magnaflows.

Flowmasters will break in and become louder. I bought the American Thunder Cat back from Summitt and didn't know or realize that the AT Cat Back doesn;t come with AT Mufflers! I have Deltas! I'm pissed! Have LT's and High flow H. Car sounds good, but not like I wanted. I'm gonna call summitt and Flowmaster and bitch about it. Maybe I'll get a hook up or something on some AT's.

American Thunder = 40 series = 2 chambers

An offroad midpipe makes a HUGE difference, here's a few clips of my sled w/ an o/r prochamber and american thunder catback:

Idling/Reving
WOT Only pops on decel when its on the cold side.

Be prepared for a LOT more interior noise though...
