RE: oil pump drive shaft fell into oil pan now what?

Agreed on the high volume pump. Bad idea.
Before you do anything, I would get a long wand magnet and try to fish it out from the top (Who knows) or drag it along the bottom of the pan and get it out that way.
I doesn't matter if you get the oil pump driveshaft out through the drain hole........now why is that??? cause you'll still have the problem of the little star washer not being there to retain the shaft in place so everytime the dizzy is pulled that doesn't happen.....so to correct the problem you'd better pull the pan and remove the pump and put the driveshaft back in with the retainer star in place
