Convertible Glass

RE: Convertible Glass
I have the same problem on my '90 vert.
I stopped by a couple of shops that do tops and they stated that it would require replacement, and furthermore that it was a very involved job.
I believe that the rear curtain will likely need replaced, but it also doesn't look to me to be all that involved. For a temporary fix I pinched it together and laid some black (black top) duct tape over the splits on the inside. You can't see them inside or out, but it was only meant to keep it from getting worse and to keep the rain out untill I can get around to fixing it permanently.
Not to detract from your thread as I hope too to have an answer to your questions, but pehaps my quick fix can help you untill which time you can repair it properly.

RE: Convertible Glass
That's correct....at the seam between the glass and the canvas. After many calls to local shops, what I have learned is that typically, one would replace the entire rear sail, which is the glass plus some surrounding canvas. This would then be installed by an upholstery shop (to the tune of $400).
However, I have a new back glass, just the glass, & I was hoping to have it re-attached to the canvas. I know the glass/canvas seal is electronically sealed at the factory, but I can't be the first guy hoping to do this.

RE: Convertible Glass
If you can do that, it would be great. But I had to replace my top, and the rear sail. It only cost me couple of hunderd more than using the old back glass and canvas back. The top and sides zip in on my top, and I am not sure how it is attached at the bottom. Could you remove yourself and take it to a shop to be repaired?
