Don't rule out an exhaust leak, bad header gasket, or loose header bolt. Are you sure it's coming from inside the engine? If it is, you could always try some Lucas...My truck tapped like crazy when I first got it. It has a 351w with 215,000 miles on it...I did an oil change with a quart of Lucas and I haven't heard a peep since, and I beat the **** out of it daily.

thats funny, all these people rebuilding motors and not replacing lifters, the lifters make that sound, Nut may have come off or loosened off rocker .

Do this, get some kerosene and put it in your engine oil. A gallon will do, run car for 10 minutes high revs turn off, drain oil and filter. replace oil and filter, 5 w30 or 10w30 is ok.

most of the ones I seen had the little springs in them loose thier tension and dirt was not the cause,

If you cant compress the lifter by hand , replace
Wouldent that be like really really bad for gaskets, rings, things like that, dont they make cleaner you can run through your engine??

It's not the headers, I put all new bolts in and made them tight.

The engine was rebuilt by previous owner, and the car ran fine for 1 month, just recently made the tapping noise 1 week after I did a full synthetic oil change over.

The car also has a problem of sucking up coolant to fast, I need to fill it about once per 2 nights.

But still making the noise, I also have a new problem of 1 intake bolt wont go back in lol.
