Yes, it is recommended to use an installation kit while you're in there. If you decide to do it, get a kit with the axle bearings and everything. As for the TracLok, do you just want to rebuild it or install a new unit? FWIW, I just had gears intalled in my coupe and only replaced the inner pinion bearing/race and pinion seal.

yes buy a kit form summit or jegs, i wouldn't buy a kit with the axle bearings unless you know they need to be replaced, when i did my gears i bought the kit with all the bearings and after inspection they were in really good shape, (proper maintence i suppose) you can always buy the bearings at autozone if you need them once your in there. buy a install kit with new pinion bearing, crush sleeve, shims, etc. A traklok rebuild kit is a good thing to install also while in there, replace the clutches, be sure to soak the new ones a few days before installing them, inspect the spider gears for wear and tear, and you'll need 3 qts 75w90 rear diff fluid.

i was just gonna put a new one in there not a rebuild kit.
if i was to take it to a shop and get them to do it should i buy the installation kit or let them take care of it. i was gonna just give them the gears and the traction loc and get them to put it in there

Ask your install shop what they would rather do. Most places can get the parts, but you can probably get them cheaper if you pick them up yourself. If you're changing diffs, why not go with an Auburn?

yea if your replacing the entire assembly get an auburn or detroit locker... and buy your own parts, y pay for part twice then the shop and the manufacturer are making money off of one part

ok i found the auburn website and was wondering which one was better... Electronically Controlled Traction Enhancing Differential (the ECTEDâ„¢) or the limited slip... and will they fit mustangs?
also they don't sell their product offline thru their website... is there another place where i could get them?
