What a rebuild consists of?????
Ok guys and gals, im rebuilding the 5.0 this winter. Now this car has 150K miles on it and its ready for it. So what level of rebuild should i take it to? Im pulling the engine out so i could do just about anything to it. So how far should i go, budgets fine, no limits really. Thanks and all information is greatly appreciated!.
Also, this car has had some customizing on the engine, when i pull the engine, is thier a way to tell if the cam or anything has been replaced? I mean numbers on it or anything? And where can i find the factory specs at? Like timing, etc.??? Thanks

if i were to rebuild i would do new forged pistons, maybe some forged lightweight rods too. all new bearings rods, main, cam. then do some arp hardware to be safe, get some good piston rings, and make sure you get your block machined, and blueprinted, and have the assembly balanced, and all of that good stuff. sorry bout all the grammer mistakes im lazy

Get a 331 Kit from Eagle or Scat, just a basic kit...no need to go all out on a stock block, just a waste of money.
And by the time you get all the machine work done on the stock block, you could almost had a brand new Summit 5.0 block, they're only about $500 and are ready to assemble, no machine work neccessary. With a 331 kit, a buget kit anyways and that block you should be at about $ 2,000-$2,200...or spend about $3K and buy a short block from somebody.
Then throw some AFR 165's or 185's on it and be happy.
