Just curious, anyone else have a similar problem with the C&L metter as I described above?? It's a 76MM unit I believe with the 24# flow tube (blue one I believe).
When I first got it way back when, they sent me the wrong flow tube (yellow one if I remember right) and the idle was REALLY all over the place, but then they sent me the correct one but the idle still sucks and the stalling when I stop fast really aggravates me!! I know some of you will try and say its the TPS or the IAC, but all are set right and working properly.
C&L issues seem to be hit or miss.

I have been running a 73mm C&L for 10yrs using various tubes, with absolutely no issues.

Some things that may have an impact...
C&L's tend to be sensitive to 90* bends in the inlet pipe just before the MAF. This is why the CAI kits usually give C&L's problems. You can try 'clocking' the MAF to get the sample tube into a more representative stream of air.

Measure out the C&L sample tube. Some folks have recieved the correct color tube from C&L, only to find out that the diameter is WRONG.
I have most of the diameters listed on my website somewhere.

Another issue that could be causing idle problems, especially when coming to a stop, is the Vehicle Speed Sensor. The EEC does use the VSS signal to control idle at speed. If there is a problem with the VSS, it will cause issues with the rpm kickdown.

Pull your codes and make sure the computer is happy with all of the inputs it is recieving from the engine.

Hope that helps,
jason

Thanks, I went to your page and printed out the diameter's of the tubes and will see if I even have the correct one. As for the VSS, I didn't think a 1989 had a VSS??

Oh, one other thing. Do you think that the meter being 76MM and my throttle body being only 65MM would have an adverse effect?? I've been thinkink of going to a 70MM anyway.
