Dropin in to say hey
Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I am in the market for a fox body 5.0 moosetank. Just wondering what to look for. Are there any problems that they're prone to? I come from the VTEC (Virtually Torqueless Economy Car) scene and I'm sick of having a piece of crap slow car lol. Anyways just thought you guys could help me out. Thanks!

I've done all my own work on the honda. I suppose I'm pretty handy when it comes to wrenching. I've done a motor swap and a trans swap (at different times) in the honda. Also helped a friend with a KLZE swap into his probe (that was a tough one) I am just sick of the honda and it is pretty much a pos I think. It takes way too much to make them fast. I'd rather start off with a fast platform and then make it quicker!

Well, it seems like you finally saw the light! But, if you can afford it definetly keep the Honda for a DD and have the Stang for the cruiser... you wont be used to watching your gas mileage drop so quick lol
To me it sounds like you are decently mechanically inclined and you shouldnt have too much of a problem working on Stangs... they are pretty simple cars to get around in. There will definetly be some things your not used to but you will get figure them out. Good luck with your search for your new Mustang! Make sure when you check out the Stangs you look for rust. Some of the common areas are the hatch, where the spare tire is in the hatch, doors, etc. Also, check the toque boxes to make sure they havent been torn, etc. The rest of just pretty much making sure its in overall good running condition. Do you have any plans for the car yet? If you want, check out the stickies. There is a good tech article in there called first mods.... read it! It has alot of good information in there about the first mods you should do to your Stang, it should keep you busy for a while. Also, if you want to learn a little bit about ford eec check out the "inside the black box, part 1" tech article. Its from MM&FF magazine... I suggest you start reading it Good luck with your search and glad to hear that your now converted!

I took a look that post about first mods and that was exactly what I was thinking of doing. First: full tune up, then: Intake, headers, exhaust, intake mani, tb, maybe 24 lb injectors and then I want GT40 heads. I'll probably then look into spray [sm=nxsmile.gif] (love that smily) and drivetrain/gearing modifications. The possibilites are endless!
