tranny gone??

I have a 1994 GT convertible w/ AODE tranny in it and all of a sudden it has lost 2nd gear. run it up to 40 and let off and it goes to 3rd and od. Put a can of trans x in it and went back to work but still once in a while it misses 2nd again. what do I do? rebuild is 1500.00. is there any other things to try befor i rebuild it?
would a filter kit help or seafoam trans cleaner or whet? Trans has 123,589 on it.

Can you manually shift it into 2nd from the shifter? Are you getting any tranny shudder? It may be worth having the tranny flushed instead of just changing the fluid.

Your trans is NFG. There is no simple fix.

AODE'S ARE NOT CHEAP TO FIX

Have it checked for codes

No codes are showing up. also when it wont shift I cannot do it manually either. it only happens once in a while and at no particular time. hot or cold
could valve body be stopped up or is there anything else to try or just rebuild? is $1500.00 about right for rebuild with torque converter included?
