i'm not sure about your car, but my 86' GT done the same thing, everybody told me that i was prob the injectors.... i then took off "all" my smog crap and the car runs much stronger now... doesn't seem like a probable cause, but it was...

I would also check your vaccuum lines around your Intake Manifold. You will be amazed at what you might find if one is leaking or something just spray some carb cleaner on it when your car is running and you should hear the car rev alittle that means theres a leak there and just patch it up. For me it was either the vaccuum lines or the o2 sensors for my main problem.

so i should just spray some carb cleaner on my vaccum lines as well?? and if it revs funny while the cleaner is somewhere that means theres a leak?? if i took my car to a deal couldnt the look it over to find where my problem lies or would that be a bad thing. im about to give up and sell mine and buy a better one lol. it runs strong, doesnt smoke unless i punch real hard. im still saying its something to do with my rearend, once i get the tag off the axle, what should i be looking for to tell if its from the 4 banger or a 5.0. also what should i look for on the tranny as well to see which its from. thanks people

yes just spray the carb cleaner which you get at any local parts store on the vaccumm lines and try this untll you hear something different sound in the idle. (have to have the car running while doing this) If you dont have any different sounds then your vaccum lines are pretty strong. Some key places where they usually leak is underneath the intake manifold, vaccumm lines along the fire wall (big closter of em on the drivers side when you look under the hood and then to the left there is a plastic box that says ford on the top and that has a very sometimes critical vaccumm line. So check around. Hope i could help alittle. DONT TAKE IT TO A DEALER!!!! if you have any mods done they are just goin to start running on things that are probably not the problem and then you get the old fix this and fix that (things that dont need to be fixed get fixed) Throw in some fuel injector cleaner also. and just try a main tune up like people said.

i have searched the vaccuum lines that i have found used the carb cleaner technique and didnt notice anything different with the way the car idled.I checked the main cluster like you said and nothing there and i got underneath the inatake manifold best i could to get that one. what other ones could their be. as i was talking to the guy at the parts place, he said to check the EGR valve??? could this potentially be the problem? tomarrow i going to take the throttle body and throttle positioning sensore off and clean them up maybe this will do the trick. let me know if anyone can think of anything.
