Default help with tranny

I have a 1994 gt convertible with AODE trans and have a question. It stopped pullin in second gear. guy at trans shop said bands were gone. needs rebuild for 1500.00. I put a can of trans-x in it and went back to work. what should I do? If bands were gone trans-x would not cure it would it? I don't think so. would it need a good fluid flush and filter kit?. also can I put a shift kit in it? If so which one is best, if not what can I do to make it shift harder?

Default RE: help with tranny

okay... let me get this straight, your tranny is slipping in second gear and you want to put a shift kit in it to beat it harder? [&:]

Anywho, yes sounds like the band is going, a full flush and fill with new filter will run you $150, that may help the problem, you can buy a Lentech Street Cruiser AODE for $1995.00 + torque convertor, and comes with a lifetime warranty! I'd buy a new tranny before I rebuilt a stock for $1500!
