Default Last post this winter help with times please

alright i've finally made a decision on how i'm going to spend my $ over the winter. I plan to have around 2500 -3000 to spend over the winter. My car runs 15.0's and 15.1's consistantly. Its a 92 GT AOD vert with the stock 273 gear. My plan is to instal a 410 gear, TCI 3000 stall super streetfighter torque converter, manual valve body, a 125 hp shot of nitrous with warmer etc, and then buy a set of full out drag slicks for sum weld drag lites a friend of mine has. My goal is 12's but i'd be real happy with 13.1's - 13.3's
i've read alot like gear is suposed to take off 0.4, Torque converter 0.4 and slicks (up to a full second but i'm hope to get 0.6, and then i'm counting on the 125 shot to take off a full second. If all went planned that'd be 2.4 seconds off the 15.0 not counting the manual valve body so could be 12.6 but is that a realistic goal ( 12's ) ???

you'll go 12's

on 3.73's and street tires my '90 aod 'vert went from 15.10 to 13.60 on 100 shot zex.

aod's absolutely need 4.10's and you can just about count on -1 second from a step from 2.73 to 4.10 , but are you sure you have 2.73's ? in the door tag is "ax" code m=2.73 z=3.08 e=3.27

125 will knock of more than 1 second, both my 5 speed cars knocked close to 1 second w/ 75 and 80 jets, and like i said my aod car knocked 1 1/2 w/ 100 jets.

of course every car is different, don't full slicks, it sux when you get stuck in the rain, and you can break an axle too (i doubt you would break on 3000 stall though) but MT drag radials, or et street bias ply are all you need. 26 X 10 1/2"

last longer too

Thanks yea my dad already told me his friends at work with real quick cars like 8sec camaro told him to tell me to stay away from slicks and skinnies on the street i'll slide all over but i was just planning on gettting a full slick for the track , and keeping street tires on for the rest of the time. I just want the most traction possible with the 410s and 3000 stall cuz i dont have $ for suspension and i really would like to get a timeslip with a 12 second run anyone else think its possible or am i over estimating?

Avoid full slicks... you WILL break your rear end... bottom line

especially if you launch like me

lol thanks good enough warning 4 me, any ideas of what i could run that would provide enough traction for me to basically "floor it " from the green instead of having to start off slow . like i've been doing with my normal gears + converter ? Or does that have more to do with suspension, i want the eibach drag launch kit but i guess they're not made for converts ( too heavy)

Dont forget suspension. Suspension slicks and gears can get u into low 13/s alone, so suspension on the setup you mentioned would put you into mid 12's easy.

alright thanks everyone i think i'm going to go with the zex dry kit with a bigger fuel pump, some lake wood 50/50s and 91/10's, some et streets for the rear wheels and leave the fronts stock, then get the torque converter and put in the 410 gear. I guess i'll have to hope for the best, i hope the et streets are good for on the street and i dont need to wry about losing control? n that way my cars not only fast at the track when i use the nitrous and the wheels anyways i guess i gotta hope 4 the best , does n e one have n e of the things i'm planning on getting let me know what u think about them ? i've heard nothing but good things about the gear but not much about the other stuff
