What ring thickness fit stock forged pistons?
I am planning to do a mild rebuild with an 87 5.0 block. After inspecting cylinders they had almost no wear. I decided to hone cylinders to get a nice cross hatch finish. Now cylinders are slightly oversized. I want to use 4.005 file fit rings. My question is what ring thickness do the stock forged pistons use (metric or standard)?

As an unrelated question: I keep hearing that the bores in these cars never wear down. That's incredible. How many miles were on your motor when you tore into it?
