Default BACK FIRE

Cant a lower octane fuel cause back firing. I put 93 in and havent back fired yet. If this is the case that ...great problem solved.

carb or fuel injected????

you might have to play with you timing and if you have a carb play with air fuel ratio too

Its fuel injected with 24lb injectors ,tfs2 cam and 14 drgress timing.

I would play with your timing also might have a 02 sensor going I would check for codes and run a self test if you have access to a scan tool
