So is the 97 1/2 explorers have 9.5:1? If the blocks are the same minus cam...or is it just the pistons that would need to be swaped along with the cam to make it a H.O.?
i believe the 97.5+ explorer had a different set of pistons, a deeper dish. gt-40p heads increase the compression ratio on a stock mustang motor.
I can not either verify or deny the compression ratio of the stock explorer motor.
ofcourse i do not have any info on the 97.5+ explorer motor, but I can definitly look into it.

the explorer has a comp ratio of 9:1.......and the pistons are hyper.......[&:]

No, it has a lot more to do with the cam profile and a hell of a lot of emissions crap.
