Default spout connector

I was adjusting my timing and removed the spout connector, got it timed good and when i put the spout connector back in it starts choking during acceleration. Runs good without the spout connector. Any ideas what it could be? I put the spout connector in while it was running. Could that screw things up? Its on a 87 5.0.

thanks,
Ben

Perhaps you set the timing wrong. What did you adjust it too? It won't screw anything up by connecting it KOER. The only thing SPOUT is for is to allow the PCM to further advance the timing from the base setting. So, if you allow the PCM to do this and it runs poorly - likely timing is too advanced (should ping and be difficult to start). You run off your base setting with SPOUT disconnected.

+1. pull the pout connector. start car and time it.. shut it off... plug spout connector back in then start it back up.

+1, Just time it by ear / throttle response.

Hmm, I was told, "start car let it warm up, keep running and pull spout, set timing, turn off car replace spout and restart"
Maybe I was told wrong?

you can do the whole thing running, start it, pull the spout, set timing, plug the spout in, drive away
